1. Technical Issues on the Shadow Map Side
- Occasionally, software bugs, server maintenance, or updates on the Shadow Map (SM) platform can cause fluctuations in alert and exposure counts.
- The Shadow Map team actively monitors and resolves these issues to ensure data accuracy and minimal impact on the dashboard.
2. Firewall Blocking on Client Servers
- If a client’s firewall blocks Shadow Map’s IP addresses, scanners may be unable to access the server.
- This can result in alerts not being detected or previously detected alerts disappearing temporarily.
- To prevent this, clients should whitelist Shadow Map’s IPs to ensure uninterrupted scanning.
3. Connectivity Issues with Client Servers
- Network instability or server-side connectivity issues can disrupt scans, leading to alert count fluctuations.
- Possible causes include network outages, server configuration changes, or bandwidth limitations affecting Shadow Map’s ability to reach the client’s infrastructure.
4. Temporary Server Downtime
- If a client’s server is temporarily offline due to maintenance, updates, or unexpected downtime, Shadow Map scanners may not be able to detect alerts.
- This can result in a temporary drop in alert counts, which will be corrected once the server is back online and scanning resumes.
